Cutest Easter Tradition

I blogged about this last year after Easter and got requests to do it before the holiday this year. I think this is by far the cutest Easter tradition.

1. Buy some "magic" jelly beans
2. Plant them in your yard, this only works the night before Easter

3. The next morning go outside and see what grew.

I love magic jelly beans.
Anyone know how I can make some dollar bills grow overnight?
Now that would be fun!
(PS - I found these at Walgreens for $1.00, which is by far the best deal. I went to a specialty candy shop and they were half the size for about 5 dollars!)

Oh, Jane we are sooo doing this on Easter! I remembered this from your blog last year...Ironically, I was just talking about this with my neighbor TONIGHT! :) Love it.

Dollar bills... oh yes!!! It's only creative moms that can get the beans to grow amazing lollipops. Less creative moms get the dollar bills. I know this...

this may not be as cute but you could also grow a balloon. you would need to have one of those plastic weights on the bottom to bury and less chance of bugs getting it.

That is so stinkin' cute !!

What a great tradition.

So what do you tell your kids? Or do you? I wanna do this with my daughter, but I was wondering if you had something to go with it? Like Santa and cookies ya know?
you leave the jelly beans out for the easter bunny and he digs them up and leaves you an extra treat? or anything like that?

Erica said...

Brilliant! With this perfect idea in my hat I'm really looking forward to Easter with our 22 month old. Thank You!

What a GREAT idea! So cute! How exciting for the kids! P.S. I'm sure you want to make a point to the little ones that this will only "happen" with these "special" beans and on Easter! ;) So fun!

Love the idea but as a "specialty candy shop" owner don't' love the plug for Walgreen's over shopping local.

Monika said...

Amazing idea. I try it with flower pot.....thanks....:-D

Doing this on Saturday with a flower pot since the ground is still frozen. :) HOPPY Easter!

Just what every child needs: a food product with its handle covered in dirt.

"What am I getting for Easter this year, Mommy?"

"Pinworms, probably."

Razz said...

Great idea! My elf on the shelf will be planting magical red jelly beans that will grow into candy canes!

Anonymous said...

i have a 8 year old who would dig the spot the next day after pulling the lollipop to just see that they disappeared so you better get them out of the ground just in case

Anonymous said...

I live in an apartment so I am going to do this with my grandson inside a flower pot on the kitchen table. Maybe do some red and white jelly beans for candy canes at Christmas.

u can buy those lollipops at the dollar tree stores for a $1
